Project overview
Engineered for continuity of care
A 450-bed teaching hospital organised around a central spine block that interconnects six distinct functional blocks, each tailored to specific clinical, academic or support services. The layout promotes operational efficiency, patient flow and interdisciplinary collaboration. The structural system uses reinforced-concrete frames with exceptionally large spans, driven by a lower-level service shaft and basement parking that required column-free zones. A coffer-slab system absorbs the extensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing penetrations typical of a modern hospital. Specialist elements include an oncology unit with radiation bunkers over one metre thick for containment and patient safety, and surgical theatres built to strict floor-flatness tolerances for sensitive medical equipment.

The structural system uses reinforced-concrete frames with exceptionally large spans, driven by a lower-level service shaft and basement parking that demanded column-free zones. A coffer-slab system absorbs the extensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing penetrations typical of a modern hospital. The oncology unit is served by radiation bunkers over one metre thick for containment and patient safety, while the surgical theatres are built to strict floor-flatness tolerances so that sensitive medical equipment performs reliably.
